BREATH, MOVE, HEAL​​​​​​​
COURSE OUTLINE
This four week series will focus on creating a safe container for you to heal. With my trauma informed skills, yoga training and 25+ years of dance experience, each class will leave you feeling lighter, rejuvenated and healthier. You will walk away with tools that are pertinent to a healthy, happy life that you love.
Each class will run 90mins; starting with a community circle, where we check in and connect as a group to honour where we’re at each week physically, spiritually & emotionally, which builds the foundation of our connection as a group, something that humans innately need and desire. 
We will begin with alternate nostril breathing, then move through a grounding exercise that takes us through our senses and through the body from head to toe (yoga nidra). 
Once we are grounded into our bodies, we will go into guided ecstatic movement*, which will be blind folded; this allows us to completely let go of judgement. 
We will wind down from this by doing a yin yoga flow to bring our heart rate down to prepare for breath work. 
The breath work that we do will be a powerful combination of box breathing, Wim Hof technique, and Somatic Breathwork™**. With this powerful release through our breath, we tap into the sympathetic nervous system allowing emotions, pain, trauma & stagnated energy to shake loose and leave our bodies, so we will follow it with a guided self love meditation. 
To close the class, you will be given prompted journaling and healthy habits homework to takeaway for the week to help integrate anything that came up during your session.

*What’s ecstatic movement? Ecstatic dance is a form of dance in which the dancers, sometimes without the need to follow specific steps, abandon themselves to the rhythm and move freely as the music takes them, leading to trance and a feeling of ecstasy. The guided portion will lead you to move in certain ways for a more focused release in the body.

**What is Somatic Breathwork™? Somatic Breathwork Healing (SBH) utilizes a two-part pranayama (breathing practice) to bring the nervous system into an altered state of consciousness. From this state, frozen or stuck energies and emotions release, lift and come into play.
Breathwork supports so many of the challenges everyone experiences. It reduces stress, creates feelings of openness, love, peace, gratitude, clarity, communication, and connection. Breathwork also helps release trauma or mental, physical, and emotional blocks, as well as anxiety, depression, fear, grief, and anger.
Breathwork helps put the brakes on an acute stress response and diverts the health problems associated with chronic stress. By eliciting the body's relaxation response, deep abdominal breathing helps reduce blood pressure. Deep breathing is not just relaxing; it's also been scientifically proven to affect the heart, the brain, digestion, the immune system. Research has shown that breathing exercises can have immediate effects by altering the pH of the blood, or changing blood pressure. 
On top of that, this style of breathing is neurologically linked to sending the body into a stress response by activating your sympathetic nervous system, so even if you had no reason to be stressed, if you breathed in this way you would cause your body to go into a stress response — this allows us to access any stagnated negative energy living in the body. People often, cry, scream or go into fits like a temper tantrum, releasing trapped trauma from the body. This could be as simple as a broken bone when you were a teen, an argument with your boss or as heavy as a major accident, loss of loved one, or childhood traumas.
